Blue Gecko Restaurant in Topsail Beach

Blue Gecko, Inc., is composed of two restaurants on Topsail Island: The Blue Gecko located on the south end of the island at 808 S. Anderson Blvd., and Indigo Marsh located at 602-B Roland Ave. right at the swing bridge in Surf City. The company also provides full catering services for your intimate in-home gatherings, business events, and, of course, weddings and other special events.

The Blue Gecko was founded by Alison Lucien in 2001 as a deli and gift shop. In 2005 the restaurant tripled its size and now encompasses three floors, featuring a gift shop, art gallery, and restaurant with all ABC permits. The view from the third floor is truly spectacular allowing one to see both the sound and the ocean. Sunset from the top is something you won’t want to miss.

New to the menu this year at The Blue Gecko are gourmet hamburgers and burritos. There is dining on the first and third floors, on the front patio, and new this year is expanded seating in the back. The new area has a tropical flair complete with a Tiki Bar.

Live entertainment is provided on the third floor every Thursday and Friday night at 7:00 p.m. by Topsail’s own Chris Bellamy. His style has been compared to Jimmy Buffett, and his lyrics truly speak to the island way of life. A $3.00 cover charge applies.

In addition to being known for its superb food, The Blue Gecko is renowned for its wonderful selection of gifts and its showcasing of local artwork. Alison and her staff travel to the Atlanta Gift Mart each year and take great care to keep the merchandise unique and fresh. "It’s important to me to carry products that no one else has," says Alison. Whether it’s ordinary, funny, elegant, or funky, The Blue Gecko has it.

Local artist Hannah Jacobs is one of the featured artists at The Gecko. Hannah is Alison’s mother and specializes in original watercolors and is also available for commissioned work.

Indigo Marsh Restaurant in Surf City

If you’re looking for something more upscale, you’ll enjoy dining at Indigo Marsh, located right at the Intracoastal Waterway in Surf City. Indigo Marsh opened in the spring of 2005 and is the area’s only waterfront Chop-House.

The atmosphere at Indigo is elegant, yet relaxed. It is the perfect place to dine for a special evening out or an enjoyable Sunday brunch on the waterfront porch.

Indigo Marsh features Certified Angus Beef® brand steaks and a wide variety of seafood specialties. In addition, the menu offers wild game, veal, and a constantly changing variety of nightly specials. Indigo Marsh’s chefs are culinary-school trained and take great pride in providing the best food available in the Topsail area. A new addition to the Indigo Marsh family is a pastry chef. He bakes all the bread and desserts at both restaurants and is available for special orders such as birthday cakes, wedding cakes, and other baked goods.
