Life really is a beach! Back in the early 80’s Jean and her late daughter Karen, recorded 63 nests in the North Topsail Beach area. Sixty three! Well, they are now grown up and are coming back to nest.

This week is Rip Current Awareness Week and NOAA along with local emergency responders are urging beachgoers to learn how to “Break the Grip” of rip currents before getting into the water.

Next week is “Hurricane Preparedness Week” in North Carolina, a time set aside for residents along the Coastal North Carolina to put together a disaster kit and create a family plan in the event a hurricane affects our area this year.
