Topsail Island fishing is HOT HOT HOT! Spanish mackerel are everywhere off the beach and flounder in the sound and surf. Capt David Baxley has the latest report.

The sound is full of hungry Redfish and flounder and less than 2 months till Deer season opens on the 13th of Sept.

Capt David Baxley of Headhunter Outdoors Inshore Fishing Charters says “Well the sound is hopping with the Reds now and they are hitting everything! Folks, you need to go fishing! I can’t tell you how much good it will do your spirit! Get the wife and kids and go fishing while you can.”

IFA Redfish Event in Surf City, NC was a great success. Bill Slaughter from Porters Neck and Gary Wysong of Titusville Fla. weighed in 2 fish for a total weight of 14.87 lbs and took home a 20k Ranger boat for their efforts.

This week is Rip Current Awareness Week and NOAA along with local emergency responders are urging beachgoers to learn how to “Break the Grip” of rip currents before getting into the water.

Topsail Island, NC - Capt David says “The fish are biting folks. Spanish are thick as the hair on a dogs back outside the inlets and the Kings are showing up too.” Come on, let’s do some fishing!

Topsail Island Fishing Report May 26th, 2008 - Capt David says “When the wind ain’t blowin’ the fish are biting! Water temps are in the mid 70’s now and everything in the water is fired up.”

The Kings are close to the beaches now around Topsail Island, NC and the piers all around are starting to get a few. Inshore the Reds are tearing it up and the Trout are still biting good up in the River.
