McIntyre Announces Over $18 Million For Southeastern North Carolina
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre today that $18,457,000 in federal funds have been secured for the Wilmington Port, Southeastern North Carolina beaches and inlets, and the Intracoastal waterway.
Congressman McIntyre stated, “Federal support is critical to enhancing and protecting the economic and environmental treasure of our coast. These funds will allow the Corps of Engineers to make critical progress in all of these areas, and it is good to see our taxpayer dollars coming back home to provide jobs and enhance our citizens quality of life. As this bill moves through the legislative process, I will be working to secure even more funding for other coastal concerns.”
The following projects have been approved by the House Appropriations Committee for the 2009 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers budget:
$ 550,000 for Brunswick County Beaches
$1,320,000 for Lockwoods Folly River
$368,000 for Surf City and North Topsail Beaches
$855,000 for the Intracoastal Waterway
$12,350,000 for the Wilmington Harbor Maintenance Dredging
$2,075,000 for Wilmington Harbor construction
$682,000 for Cape Fear River Locks and Dams
$347,000 for Masonboro Inlet.
