Why Blake’s Chapel (Part 1)

For a long time now, I have been writing about Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, inviting you to visit and hopefully, join our congregation.

"Why should I?" you might ask.

Why indeed! You deserve to know why. So here is a lighthearted look at 10 reasons why you should consider Blake’s Chapel:

1. We have the finest cooks in the country attending our church so our church suppers are really feasts in disguise.

2. Pastor Buddy Dowd is probably one of the most fun-loving people in the country, if not the state.

3. We will always remember to celebrate your birthday. Not only will we sing "Happy Birthday" to you, (not necessarily in key), but we’ll also have a party for you.

4. We have the best pianist and organist east of the Mississippi River.

5. We have some awesome special events during the year.

6. Our pews are specially padded for comfort.

7. Pastor’s sermons are generally limited to 20 minutes.

8. Pastor’s wife, Ms. Leah, makes sure that the temperature in the church during the summer does not exceed 65 degrees.

9. Ice cream is our favorite food. Chocolate comes in a close second.

10. Our deacons have been known for taking several cream pies in the face.

I know that you are thinking, "Are these truly good reasons to go to church, assuming they are true?"

Well, they are very true. I guarantee that; but, as far as good reasons? Well, no.

Now that I have established the fact that they are not good reasons to attend church, I am going to hold you in suspense until next week when I’ll give you 10 good reasons to attend Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church.
