Topsail Island, NC - Just looking at this painting of carefully detailed, bright carousel horses takes me back in time when I couldn't wait to see the mighty steeds fiercely galloping to catch up with one another.  What a grand time that was.  Sometimes, I would just stand outside the gate watching the circus carousel twirl endlessly, flaunting generous-sized mirrors encircled with dazzling colored lights twinkling to music that never missed a beat.

That's one of the benefits of art.  It can take you on a journey or instill a premonition of the future.

Do you know of a talented artist?  Want to show off your own creative side?  We'd love to see it!  There's hardly anything more relaxing than an 'art in the park' event, especially when it is held at our favorite historic plantation, Poplar Grove in Hampstead. North Carolina.

Poplar Grove has the perfect location for such an 'artsy' gathering.  A huge supporter of the Arts Council, this beautiful, historic mansion hosts several popular fun events each year.  They have held everything from a farmer's market, flower shows, craft classes and even a quilting bee. And, don't forget, their most-popular Halloween show which is always an award winner!
 
Their next event will be an Arts & Crafts Exhibition and sale beginning Saturday, September 20th, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.  They will close that day with a reception beginning at 4:00 pm.  The exhibition will continue the next day on Sunday, September 21, when they will be open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. 

This event is presented by Creative Artists of Hampstead.  Historic Poplar Grove Plantation is located at US Highway 17, Wilmington, NC, at the corner of Sidbury Road.

This event is open to all artists 18 years of age and older; and is open to original works of art in any medium. Space is limited. Entries accepted in order of receipt. 
 
There will be a First, Second and Third Place cash award to be presented to the winning artists at a reception at 4:00 pm on Saturday. September 20th.
